I hope you do, and that’s why we’re here…

Let me be a bit more specific – this way we’ll get to know each other and you’ll know what to expect from this site – I hope! This is my third attempt at blogging, and as they say, whomever “they” are: “third time’s a charm!”

Let me introduce myself to you. My name is Elaine Johnston and I have been in the travel and hospitality industry since 1972. WOW! 37 years! During those years I’ve worn many hats – some at the same time. I’ve gone from travel agent to travel agency owner – one in New Jersey, one in Florida, and now one in Tennessee – to tour operator to tour manager to group leader to travel writer and back to travel agency owner. I’ve also spent a few years in the sales department of a Hyatt hotel – Indianapolis, Indiana…

OK….so why the blog?

Why blog you ask. If you’re a travel agent, do what you do best and leave blogging alone. As I said, this is my third try.

Well, I can’t leave well enough alone…I come across so many web sites devoted to travel in the course of my day, it makes my head spin. One more confusing than the other. Sooooo much information and ads jammed into one little web site. Where does a person begin to look for what they really want – information and advice?

I know, I know…there are tons of travel related forums, chat rooms, and advice columns already – why do we need another? We probably don’t , but that’s not going to stop me…

It’s my turn to give back.

This blog is a work in progress.  I intend to keep it simple. I can’t keep it to one niche. I’ve dealt with too many people and seen so many places over the past 37 years, I would not know where to begin to cut back.

I will share with you some inside information on what the travel business is about as well as telling you what travel companies I think do the best job for you and your individual needs. I see this blog site as being a “potpourri” of travel ideas and experiences accumulated over time. Perhaps a memoir? A memoir with suggestions for today’s travel destinations…Who knows! Stick with me and we’ll both find out. As I said – it’s a work in progress…
